- Survey conducted by KolkataCarTrade reveals consumers demand increased by 50 percent to use private vechile.
- 30 percent of the consumers who were preferring to buy a new car, will now prefer to buy pre-owned car because of their limited budgets.
- Respondents from non-metro cities feel that they would like to switch to two wheelers instead.
The nationwide lockdown have impacted on consumer trends and buying patterns alot. It is likely to also alter the way people used to travel before COVID-19 lockdown. Its been seen with a survey and peoples discussion now the commuter will now look at using private cars in the post COVID-19 world. The reason is only COVID-19 and maintaining social distancing, so several people are rationing their budgets for looking after Pre Owned cars from various Car Dealers, whether going online platforms for booking their cars.
And, the reason is also to look forward to buy the Pre-owned or Used Car is the safety to keep self isolation and maintain social distancing rather than travelling in Public transport and get a chance of infection. The another interesting found, 22.5 percent of the consumers who were planning to buy a new car last year would now prefer to buy pre-owned car because of their limited budgets.
The report further revealed that while 40 percent feel that they now need to buy a car for their family, 60 percent of the consumers think of buying one within next 4 to 6 months

Peoples are not only limiting their budgets for high priced cars but are also planning to invest their hard-earned money much more wisely and are keener to buy a pre-owned or used car instead of a new one. The Uncertain change and the way people will buy cars in future, we expect that 40% of our consumers would like to shift to online car selling/ buying platforms in the post COVID world,” Nitin Kr Jha ,CMO added.
But all this uncertain change does mean affordability and convenience of public transport will not attract daily commuters. Such as unlike top-metros, where consumers intend to buy cars will increase, and respondents from non-metro cities would like to switch to two wheelers instead.
Further, analysis has revealed that 60 percent of the consumers who were using cabs as their primary mode to travel before COVID would now like to shift to their own private cars while 40 percent said that they will switch to 2-wheelers.
TOPWHEELS’s survey is going metros and non-metro cities to understand their sentiments towards car ownership in the post COVID-19 world and conducted using various digital platforms.
